Borderline Personality Disorder Therapy

Compassionate support.

Practical tools. Real change.

Living with borderline personality disorder can mean experiencing intense emotions, fear of abandonment, unstable relationships, impulsivity, or a painful sense of emptiness. These struggles can feel overwhelming, but they do not define who you are.

At Harmony Healing Psychotherapy, we provide compassionate, evidence-based BPD therapy for adults across Ontario. Therapy can help you improve emotional regulation, build healthier relationships, strengthen your sense of self, and feel more stable and in control of your life.

BPD Is More Than a Diagnosis.

Borderline personality disorder can affect how you experience emotions, relationships, identity, and your sense of safety. You may feel emotions intensely, fear abandonment, struggle with trust, or feel unsure of who you are.

BPD therapy can help you understand the patterns beneath these experiences, build emotional regulation skills, strengthen relationships, and develop a more stable sense of self. With the right support, meaningful and lasting change is possible.

Signs of BPD May Include

Intense emotions that feel difficult to manage

Impulsive or self-destructive behaviours

Fear of abandonment or rejection

Intense anger, irritability, or mood shifts

Unstable or highly conflictual relationships

Stress-related paranoia or dissociation

Rapid changes in how you see yourself or others

Difficulty trusting others or feeling emotionally safe

Feelings of emptiness or disconnection

Strong reactions to perceived criticism or distance

You do not need to experience every symptom for BPD therapy to help. With compassionate, evidence-based support, it is possible to build greater emotional stability, healthier relationships, and a stronger sense of self.

Our BPD Therapy Approaches

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, or DBT, is one of the most widely used treatments for borderline personality disorder. DBT helps you manage intense emotions, reduce impulsive behaviours, tolerate distress, communicate more effectively, and build healthier relationships.

DBT-PTSD combines DBT skills with trauma-focused treatment. It can be especially helpful when BPD symptoms are connected to childhood trauma, abuse, shame, dissociation, emotional dysregulation, or post-traumatic stress.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or CBT, helps you identify thoughts and behaviours that contribute to emotional distress, conflict, avoidance, or low self-worth. CBT for BPD can support more balanced thinking and healthier responses to difficult situations.

Internal Family Systems, or IFS therapy, helps you understand the different parts of yourself that may carry fear, anger, shame, emptiness, or a need for protection. IFS can reduce inner conflict and support greater self-compassion and emotional stability.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, or ACT, helps you respond to painful thoughts and emotions with greater flexibility. ACT can reduce avoidance, strengthen self-awareness, and help you make choices that reflect your values rather than intense emotions.

Attachment-based therapy explores how early relationships may influence fear of abandonment, trust, emotional safety, and current relationship patterns. It can help you build healthier boundaries, strengthen secure connections, and better understand your emotional needs.

Emotion-Focused Therapy helps you identify and process emotions beneath anger, fear, shame, grief, or relationship conflict. This approach can help you understand your emotional responses and express your needs more clearly.

How BPD Treatment Can Help You Heal

BPD treatment can help you understand the patterns beneath intense emotions, relationship difficulties, fear of abandonment, impulsive reactions, and an unstable sense of self. With compassionate, evidence-based support, you can build practical skills while also addressing the deeper emotional wounds connected to these experiences.

Together, we can work to help you:

  • Regulate intense emotions more effectively

  • Reduce impulsive or self-destructive coping patterns

  • Manage fear of abandonment and rejection

  • Build healthier, more stable relationships

  • Strengthen communication and boundary-setting skills

  • Develop a clearer and more consistent sense of self

  • Process trauma, shame, and painful attachment wounds

  • Increase distress tolerance and emotional resilience

  • Feel more grounded, secure, and in control

Healing from borderline personality disorder does not mean changing who you are. It means learning how to respond to emotions with greater awareness, build safer connections, and create a life that feels more stable, meaningful, and fulfilling.
