Privacy & Confidentiality
Is everything I say confidential?

Your privacy is very important, and what you share in therapy is kept strictly confidential. Information will only be shared with your consent, except in certain situations where disclosure is required by Ontario law.

 

These exceptions include:

- If there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or someone else

- If there is suspected abuse or neglect of a child under 16

- If you disclose abuse by a regulated health professional

- If there is concern about abuse or neglect of a seniorIf your records are subpoenaed by a court

- If the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario requests records for audit or investigation purposes

 

These limits to confidentiality will be explained in detail before we begin, and you’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

Therapy Process & What to Expect
What happens in a therapy session?

Sessions are collaborative and tailored to your needs. You can expect a safe space to explore emotions, build coping tools, and work toward goals using therapies like DBT, ACT, or trauma-informed care.

How long does therapy usually take?

The length of therapy depends on your goals. Some clients benefit from short-term support, while others may prefer ongoing care. We'll regularly check in to make sure therapy continues to meet your needs.

Fees, Insurance & Payment
Are therapy sessions covered by insurance in Ontario or Nova Scotia?

Yes. If you have extended health benefits, many plans cover sessions with a registered social worker or psychotherapist. Check with your provider to confirm coverage for virtual therapy.

What are your fees, and do you offer sliding scale?

Standard session fees are $170 per session. A free 15-minute consultation is available to help you decide if we’re a good fit.

​IS THIS PSYCHOTHERAPY OHIP COVERED?

No, however, virtual therapy in Ontario is covered by most private insurances. You can give your insurance a call, and they can definitely clarify your coverage. 

Booking & Cancellations
How do I book a therapy session?

You can book sessions directly through our secure online booking system via the Jane App. We also offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to help you get started and find the right therapeutic fit.

What’s your cancellation policy?

We require at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a session. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to the full session fee. Our booking and cancellation system is managed through the Jane App for your convenience.

Virtual Therapy
Is virtual therapy effective?

Yes. Online therapy is proven to be just as effective as in-person therapy for many concerns, including anxiety, trauma, and BPD. All sessions are secure, confidential, and easy to access from home.

Do you offer virtual therapy in Ontario and Nova Scotia?

At Harmony Healing Psychotherapy, we offer trauma-informed care using evidence-based approaches like CPT, DBT-PTSD, EFT for complex trauma and somatic practices. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, BPD, childhood trauma, PTSD, or complex trauma, we’ll tailor the therapy to your specific needs to support deep healing and long-term recovery. Sessions are offered virtually across Ontario and Nova Scotia.

Do you offer therapy for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)?

Yes. We specialize in BPD therapy using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help with emotional regulation, relationship struggles, and identity issues.

What is Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)?

Trauma-informed therapy recognizes how trauma impacts the brain and body. It focuses on safety, empowerment, and helping you heal without re-traumatization.

Do you work with students and young adults?

Yes! We specialize in supporting university students and young adults navigating anxiety, identity, trauma, and relationship issues—especially those with access to therapy benefits.

Do you work with culturally diverse clients?

Crisis Support & Emergencies
What if I’m in crisis or need immediate help?

Although Harmony Healing Psychotherapy is not a crisis line, we can absolutely help you when you are feeling more stable and ready to engage in psychotherapy. In the meantime, here is a crisis support line 1-833-456-4566.

Can I reach out between sessions if I’m struggling?

You’re welcome to email with brief updates, but therapy support happens in-session. If you’re in distress, we’ll work together to identify coping tools and crisis resources during your sessions.
